Labor Of Love - Attention Genealogists

My cousin Cherie is addicted to genealogy. She loves delving into and linking up the lives of ancestors. Thankfully for me, she was willing to share the fruits of her labor. As a result, I am creating altered books using her findings beginning with our Great Grandmother and Grandfather on the side of our Mothers.

For those of you who may not know what an altered book is, you are in for a new addiction. An altered book is a form of mixed media artwork that changes a book from the original form into something else. It begins with a book that has outlived its usefulness and needs you to breathe new life into it or it can be brand new. The choice is yours as the creator.

An altered book is an existing book that is awaiting your creativity whether it be by using rubber stamps, scrapbook paper, paint, collage, found objects or anything else that your creative heart desires. It is a relaxed art where you don't need to be an expert. Search the internet to learn more and see examples of free expression.

I used old family photos, ancestory articles and lineage, scrapbook paper, paint, found objects, and embellishments to present the lives of our family. So take that burning genealogy desire that you have and transform it into a work of art to be cherished for generations to come. Enjoy!
Again, a giant THANK YOU to Cherie, for without all of her work and dedication, these books would not be possible.

What a wonderful way to "illustrate" your heritage Sandie! And it was even better to see this in person at AGO in January. You are so talented and I'm tickled you've rejoined the fold!
